The Best Medium Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds

If you suffer from various allergies and still love to play with dogs then perhaps you can consider getting a hypoallergenic dog which doesn't shed too much hair and has much less dander as compared to other dogs. There are quite a few medium hypoallergenic dog breeds for people to choose from. Let's take a look at a few of them:

1. Ever heard of a Spanish Water Dog? These dogs are great for people who love shaggy dogs. They look just like the sheep dogs you see on the Looney Tunes show. They are intelligent and enjoy playing around as well. If they are socialized correctly, they make excellent playmates for your children as well. These dogs were initially supposed to be hunters and guardians. The coat of this dog is a unique one as well. It almost resembles dreadlocks. They do need some grooming although they don't really shed too much hair. This dog requires a lot of training and exercise. You need to keep them occupied in various activities all the time. They are also considered excellent as search dogs, sniffer dogs, etc. They are excellent therapy dogs as well.

2. The next dog I am going to discuss is the Bouvier des Flandres. This is another excellent dog for people who have allergies. This grow can grow to weigh as much as 90 pounds and if you don't socialize and train it properly at a young age, they will have dominance issues later on. These dogs were initially meant to herd cattle and sheep and are also considered excellent guard dogs. These dogs are quite calm when kept indoors although they are known to run around quite a bit when given a large lawn to play in.

3. The third and final dog I am going to talk about is the Xoloitzcuintle or the Xolo for short. This is a hairless Mexican dog and the largest ones are known to grow up to 60 pounds. These dogs have been around for quite some time now and there is even evidence to support that they were prominent during the Mayan and Aztec periods which is almost 3000 years ago. They form a strong and close bond with the people who feed them and take care of them. However, they will require some socialization training if you want them to be around children. The only problem with these dogs is that they are quite rare. In fact, they were even considered to be extinct all the way till the 1950's. You will not even find too many of them in Mexico. If you have your heart set on a Xolo, be ready to wait for a while. Click here for more information.
